main duties & responsibilities
Ensure an effective blasting programme is in place.
Ensure machines are operating to the daily production plan and maintenance schedules are adhered.
Communicates production plan to operators.
Adhere to daily loading plan.
Ensure safety talks are held on each shift.
Carry out daily inspections and ensure that COP’s are adhered to and PTO’s are carried out
Check pre-start check lists.
Report on incidents and other potential hazards.
Maintain a high standard of environmental compliance and good housekeeping.
Monitor progress for hourly production target.
Instill and enforce effective discipline on the site.
Ensure that safety devices are in working order and Conduct risk assessments.
Conduct a high wall/slope and safety berm inspection daily and ensure compliance with the stability recommendations of the rock engineer.
Qualifications & skills
Grade 12 with Supervisory Course qualification, valid driver’s license and must be in possession of blasting certificate for opencast mines.
Must be computer literate.
At least five years proven experience in a supervisory role in an opencast mine.
Must be familiar with the MHSA Act.
